New Ancient Documents

Last week my daughter declared that she wanted to "make some ancient documents". It took us a couple days to research and prepare, but over the weekend we tackled the project and made some old papers from Kabos!

We tried making some ink, but that project was a bit of a bust, so we mixed paint with water and various dirts and spices and such to study how that changed it, then encoded a message in the ancient alphabet we created a couple weeks back.

Quick-drying the paint, so we could move on to the aging process.

Spritzing the paper with water to create weaker areas to rough up and damage, then dabbing the paper with coffee to yellow and age it.

Blotting wet coffee grounds on the damp document to create 'age blotches' of color variation.
