Who knows what lies inside the legend book?

Saturday afternoon.

She comes running up to me across the living room. “Daddy,” she says, excitedly. “Daddy, I’ve made a legend book!”

“A what?” I say, as she thrusts a folded sheet of paper folded into my hands. She’s scrawled on the front and back. It looks like a book.

“It says the shadows of dawn have been discovered!”

“Whoa. How did that happen?” I ask, ready to look inside.

“No!” she says, grabbing for my hands and pointing to the corner of the cover. “You need to punch a hole up here for me.”

“Okay,” I say, as I get a pin and put a hole where she says, then hand it back to her. “What’s the hole for?”

“So I can put a string—“ she says, threading it, “—and a bead through there, and then wrap it around.”

“But what about the shadows of dawn? Does it say what they are in the legend book?”

“No, she says, looping the string to tie it shut.

“Then why are you tying it shut?”

“Because if you open it, you would have to go and find out what they are, and it’s a VERY dangerous adventure.”

So now you know as much as I do. I found the legend book lying on the floor after she went to sleep, and I’m kind of tempted to look inside so I can write about the shadows of dawn for the Monstervore book…but I have a lot to do this week, and I’m not sure I have time for a normal adventure, let alone a VERY dangerous one.
